Portfolio Reviews
Xposure Portfolio Review Rotation
The Xposure Portfolio Review Rotation is a structured professional critique session designed to give photographers direct feedback from multiple senior industry figures in a focused and time managed environment. The format uses a rotating review system where participants remain at their assigned tables while reviewers move between them in timed rounds.
Each photographer receives a series of one to one review meetings with different reviewers during a single session. This structure provides varied perspectives on a body of work, including editorial, curatorial and professional viewpoints. The aim is to deliver constructive, practical guidance on storytelling, editing, sequencing, project direction and professional positioning.
The reviews mirror the type of portfolio discussions that take place with editors, curators and agency directors. Because each conversation is time limited, reviewers focus on identifying the strongest elements of a project, highlighting areas that may require refinement and offering clear recommendations for the next stage of development.
Sessions take place in a dedicated review space organised with numbered tables. Photographers remain seated with their portfolios ready while reviewers follow a predefined rotation schedule, ensuring that each participant meets several different reviewers during the session.
Capacity is limited to twelve photographers per session to ensure meaningful interaction and maintain the quality of feedback during each timed review round.
The Xposure Portfolio Review Rotation will take place on two dates during the festival week: Saturday 20 March 2027 and Tuesday 23 March 2027. Photographers may register for either session, with the same format, reviewer rotation structure and capacity applied to both dates.

What You Need To Do
Before attending the Xposure Portfolio Review Rotation, take time to think about what you want to gain from the session. Consider the type of feedback that would be most valuable for your work. You may be seeking guidance on editing and sequencing, advice on the direction of an ongoing project, or insight into how your work may be received by editors, curators or institutions.
Because you will meet several reviewers during the rotation, it is helpful to prepare a short introduction to your work and the story behind your project. Be ready to explain your intentions clearly and concisely so that each review can focus on meaningful discussion and practical feedback.
Review the professional backgrounds of the participating reviewers in advance. Understanding their experience and areas of expertise will help you frame your questions and make the most of each conversation. Arriving prepared will allow you to gain the greatest benefit from the different perspectives offered during the session.
Be On Time!
The Xposure Portfolio Review Rotation runs on a strict timed schedule. All participants must arrive at the Workshop Reception at least 10 to 15 minutes before the session begins.
Once the rotation starts, reviewers move between tables according to a predefined schedule. If you arrive late, you may miss part or all of one review round and the schedule cannot be adjusted or extended.
Arriving early allows staff to confirm your table number, review the session format and ensure the rotation begins smoothly for all participants.
Ease of Handling & Presentation
Photographers may present their portfolio either digitally on a laptop or tablet, or as a set of printed images. If presenting digitally, ensure your images are prepared in advance and organised in a clear sequence so that they can be shown efficiently during the review.
Participants presenting on a laptop should ensure their device has an HDMI output or bring the appropriate adaptor if required. The photographer should control the presentation while reviewers view and discuss the work.
Because each review round is limited in time, portfolios should be concise and easy to navigate to allow sufficient time for discussion and feedback.
Print Size
For printed portfolios we recommend bringing a concise edit of approximately 12 to 15 images. Prints should be of good quality and at a minimum size of 20 cm on the long edge to allow reviewers to clearly see detail and composition.
Keeping the selection focused will allow more time for discussion and constructive feedback during each review round.
