Ibrahim Iqbal

Ibrahim Iqbal was born on 9th October 1970 in Chattogram, Bangladesh. A Chemical Pathologist and self Taught Photographer. Iqbal began his career in 1988, discovering an unknown passion. He completed his MBBS from Chittagong Medical College in 1996 and then MD (Doctor of Medicine – in clinical biochemistry) from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Bangladesh, in 2005.

Ibrahim has won more than 300 awards in National and International Photo Contests, including a Gold medal in the 6th National Photo Contest in 1996, the Grand Prize (Colour Portfolio) in the 7th National Shilpokola Academy Photo Contest in 1999, a Gold medal in AshahiSimbun International Photo Contest, Japan 2000, 3rd prize, in Nikon International Photo Contest, Japan 1998, Best image award in photojournalism-Odessos International Photo Contest, Bulgaria 2017, First Prize in image san frontier world cup, France 2019, NYPA gold medal from New York Photo Fair 2020, USA, International photography award (IPA), USA 2021, Monovision – leading black white photography magazine award, UK 2021.
More than 2000 photographs have been exhibited in different countries across the world. He has eight solo and 3 group exhibitions to his credit. Three times invited photographer in MASTER’S SHOW ‘organized by Romania Photographic Society in Romania national museum, where only 50 master photographers from around the globe were invited to exhibit their works. More than 250 photographs have been published in different national and international catalogues, calendars, journals, books and newspapers. Suicide

Awarded artist FIAP (AFIAP) distinction by Federation International de Photographic Art, Luxemburg, in 1996. Received Licentiateship (LBPS) from Bangladesh Photographic Society in 1992, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Received Honorary Distinction (Hon. CPE) from Campina Photographic Exhibition Society, Romania. Member of the Global Advisory Board for the Public Health Photo Contest (PHPC) by Gonoshasthaya Kendra and GonoBishwabidyalya.

Iqbal will publish his first book on his body of work, AAMAR HOSPITAL, in December 2021.

Ibrahim Iqbal had been a jury member in several national and international photo contests. Presently serving as a consultant in the Department of Lab Medicine, Imperial Hospital Limited and freelancing as a photojournalist.

 

BOOKS:
Iqbal will publish his first book based on his long-term project on HOSPITALS. Hopefully, the book will see the shelves in December 2021. There are 143 images and text by dr. Shahuduz zaman is a medical anthropologist and literary writer professor at the University of Sussex, England. The size of the book will be 14 inches by 11 inches, with hardcover binding and 287 pages.

This book includes images spanning the past 20 years ( 2000 to 2021). All the proceeds from this book will be used for the welfare of the patients of Chittagong medical college hospital, Bangladesh.
