Questions Without a Brief to Spark Real Conversations

Questions Without a Brief

Focus Group Description

This focus group puts students at the centre of the conversation. Instead of following a fixed topic, the session responds directly to what participants want to explore. That could be creative process, personal direction, technology, or doubts that rarely fit into structured talks. The goal is simple: create space for honest questions and thoughtful exchange.

First, the discussion will open with student led questions. From there, the conversation will flow naturally, moving between ideas as they emerge. Some topics may turn practical, others reflective or philosophical. Because of this, the session stays flexible and responsive, allowing each group to shape the direction in real time. Participants should arrive curious and ready to speak, listen, and think aloud.

About the Mentor

Marco Ronconi is a professional nature photographer and publisher with a practice rooted in fine art and minimalism. He approaches photography as an act of exclusion and visual detoxification, favouring simplicity over excess. His background leans toward artistic thinking rather than technical instruction, shaped by a deep appreciation for nature and its inherent balance.

Format
This is a 40 minute interactive roundtable discussion. The mentor will briefly set the tone, then the session will unfold through participant questions and open conversation, without a fixed agenda or prescribed outcome.

    Marco Ronconi

Marco Ronconi is an Italian photographer and publisher celebrated for his emotionally resonant and minimalist nature imagery. Founder of Kamui Editions, he has published Chiaro Scuro and Hueco Mundo, both exploring themes of stillness, contrast, and suggestion. Working primarily in black and white, Ronconi’s images evoke a sense of introspection and poetic balance. His photography has been widely exhibited in Europe and reflects a deep connection to the landscape, the tactile value of print, and a personal philosophy rooted in quiet observation and simplicity.
