Afrikaner Blood
Afrikaner Blood is a short documentary that follows white South African teenagers at Kommandokorps camps, where they are trained in self defence and taught an extreme right wing Afrikaner nationalist worldview. As the young participants wrestle with identity in post apartheid South Africa, the film reveals how ideas of separation, fear, and belonging are passed on through ritual, discipline, and instruction. It examines the rejection of a multicultural future, showing how a fringe movement frames Afrikaners as separate from the nation around them.
The film is a multimedia production by journalist and videographer Elles van Gelder and photojournalist Ilvy Njiokiktjien, focusing on the right wing organisation Kommandokorps in South Africa.
