Whispers Of The Grassland
Historically, Kazakh people were nomadic herders, roaming for pasture and water. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, many urban – dwelling Kazak shifted from their nomadic lifestyle. But those in pastoral areas still keep their ethnic traditions.
This film follows a Kazak couple’s life on the grassland, showing their deep affection for it. As China modernizes rapidly and with an aging population, they’ve had to adapt their traditional nomadic way. Now, they winter with stored forage in pastures and graze in summer, preserving the nomadic culture in changing times.
