Editing Masterclass: Fine Art Look Workflow Guide
Editing Masterclass: Fine Art Look

Editing for a Fine Art Look

A complete Lightroom based workflow that shapes tone, colour, and depth to produce expressive, gallery quality landscape prints.

Introduction:

Discover the refined editing process behind exhibition quality landscape prints. In this hands on session, Mohammad guides participants through a complete Lightroom workflow, moving from import and catalog organisation to precise tonal shaping. You will learn how to transform ordinary captures into expressive fine art images that reflect your personal vision and carry emotional depth.

Description:

Fine art editing relies on intention as much as technique. This three hour workshop takes participants through the full process, beginning with the organisational foundations that make consistent editing possible. Mohammad demonstrates how thoughtful file management, clear catalog structures, and efficient rating and culling practices create a stable environment for creative work. These early steps establish discipline, reduce distractions, and allow photographers to approach editing with clarity.

Next, the workshop shifts into the creative core of the workflow. Participants explore exposure balancing, tonal refinement, and light shaping through masks, gradients, and local adjustments. Mohammad explains how subtle decisions build atmosphere and depth, and how restraint preserves natural colour, detail, and a timeless aesthetic. Case studies from his award winning work show how editing choices define an artist’s visual language and influence how viewers experience a landscape.

Finally, the session focuses on finishing and print preparation. Participants learn how to soft proof accurately, manage sharpening and noise, and export files in the correct colour space and resolution for galleries, books, or online display. By the end of the workshop, participants understand not only how to edit but also how to create a repeatable workflow that produces consistent fine art results.

Modules:

Module 1: Asset Management and Pre Edit Workflow
This module covers the organisational groundwork required for an efficient editing process. Participants learn file naming standards, folder structures, catalog setup, and metadata practices that keep Lightroom libraries clean and efficient. The session also introduces culling methods, rating systems, and backup strategies that support a reliable long term workflow.

Module 2: Light Shaping and Local Adjustments
The second module moves into creative editing. Participants learn how to sculpt light using masks, gradients, and selective tools to create balance and depth. Mohammad demonstrates how focused adjustments guide the viewer’s eye, strengthen narrative intention, and maintain natural colour and atmosphere.

Module 3:Finishing and Print Preparation
The final module deals with refining images for print. Participants learn sharpening and soft proofing techniques, along with best practices for exporting files in the correct colour space and resolution. The session concludes with guidance on preparing images for galleries, books, competitions, and digital presentation.
