You will move quickly between writing and performance as you explore how an idea shifts from words on a page into a living scene on stage. Guided by experienced industry practitioners, you will learn the fundamentals of story structure, character development, and expressive performance.

Description:

This workshop gives participants a complete creative journey in a short, high energy format. You will move from concept to script to performance, always with clear guidance and practical direction.

First, the session introduces the foundations of story. You will learn how to shape a compelling idea, build characters with purpose, and structure a scene that holds attention. Short collaborative exercises help the group generate ideas and translate them into simple story outlines.

Next, the focus shifts to scriptwriting. You will write short scenes together and learn how to keep dialogue natural, pacing sharp, and visual cues clear. During this stage the trainers circulate to support each group with practical feedback and direction.

The workshop then transitions from page to performance. Participants learn basic acting techniques including voice projection, timing, and presence. You will rehearse the scenes you have written and explore how emotion, rhythm, and movement bring a story to life.

Finally, the workshop concludes with live performances of the scenes created during the session. The group reflects on the process, shares insights, and receives guidance on further development and training opportunities through B7A Studios. By the end, you will understand how writing and acting work together and you will leave with the confidence to continue creating your own stories.

Modules:

Module 1:

This two hour interactive session invites participants to move through the full cycle of creation from story idea to on stage performance. The workshop begins with warm up exercises that build confidence and encourage playful thinking. You will explore the essential elements of a strong scene, generate ideas through short prompts, and build a simple narrative that becomes the foundation for your script.

The module then shifts into writing where you draft dialogue and action with support from the facilitators. Once the script takes shape, the session moves into rehearsal and performance. Participants learn practical acting techniques, practise their scenes, and prepare for a short final showcase. The module ends with group performances, reflection, and a discussion about future creative pathways.
