Russia at Dusk: An Evocative Photographic Journey
Russia at Dusk by Dmitry Ersler

Russia at Dusk

Russia at Dusk by Dmitry Ersler explores contemporary life in provincial Russia through an evocative series made predominantly in the evening. As rapid development reshapes cities and villages worldwide, Ersler turns to places where time appears to pause, and where the Russian village retains an authentic character. His photographs document daily routines, concerns, and dreams in small towns and settlements, rendered with cinematic lighting that brings warmth, intimacy, and a quiet sense of wonder.

The presentation traces how the project was conceived and realised, from early inspirations to field practice. Ersler shares behind the scenes insights, stories of the people portrayed, and the practical choices that shape mood and meaning, offering a thoughtful study of place, culture, and the poetics of light at dusk.
