Workshop Description
This 1.5-hour workshop is perfect for nature and photography enthusiasts looking to elevate their flower photography using only natural light. Learn to capture flowers in their most stunning form, from vibrant close-ups to artistic compositions.
You’ll master the ideal focusing modes, discover the secrets of working with natural light, and explore techniques to achieve dramatic black backgrounds and beautiful bokeh. We’ll cover how to use aperture and depth of field to control sharpness and blur and how to capture sharp, vibrant shots during golden hour or other low-light situations.
Focusing on composition and creative techniques like shoot-through effects and Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), this hands-on session will inspire you to see flowers in a whole new way and transform your photography.
Module 1
Setting Up for Success
Learn how to set up your camera for optimal results, including choosing the best picture profiles, understanding RAW vs JPEG, and selecting the proper metering modes for flower photography.
Module 2
Capturing Sharpness and Depth
Explore the ideal focusing modes, aperture settings, and depth of field techniques to achieve sharp details and creative blur, making your flowers stand out beautifully.
Module 3
Composition and Creative Framing
Master composition techniques like the rule of thirds, filling the frame, and using patterns. Enhance your shots with creative framing techniques such as shoot-through effects to add depth and artistry.
What Should Students Bring?
Please bring a camera that allows manual adjustment of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings. Suitable types include DSLRs, mirrorless systems, or bridge cameras. If we have time, we can practice.
