In recent years, Egevang has been working on a research and communication project on the Greenland sled dog. The sled dog population in Greenland has declined by more than 50 % over the past 2-3 decades, among several factors, because of a warmer climate, leaving the ancient dog sled culture endangered. Through his photography, Carsten has been documenting the present use of the dog in Greenland along with providing the visual profile for communicating the research results of the project.
Carsten Egevang is a core member of the Arctic Arts Project, an international group of visual artists communicating the effects of climate change.
