Lighting plays a pivotal role in shaping a photograph’s mood, atmosphere, composition, and depth. It’s undeniably the primary factor in photography. This workshop will discuss and demonstrate how to understand lighting; both natural ambient & off-camera flash.
We will consider how lighting dictates fundamentals such as mood and atmosphere, the illusion of depth, along with how it can be used strategically to highlight specific details, textures or features within the scene. Consideration will be given to both natural and off-camera flash, the latter being demonstrated within the workshop using a simple portrait two flash set-up.
It is the lighting that sets the mood within the photograph. It has the power to evoke emotions, create drama, convey specific messages and enhance the overall storytelling. In addition, it is considered lighting which creates a sense of depth and so the illusion of 3-dimensions by interacting with the subjects and the surrounding environment, all of which leads to attention arresting amazing photographs.
